Packing for Switzerland: The Essentials

Switzerland is an amazing country that has lots to offer. You can choose from skiing, trekking, enjoying extreme sports such as bungee jumping, swimming, hiking, alpine trekking, and many, many more!

You will never run out of things to do in this amazing country, and you definitely have to be ready before going on walking tours in Switzerland.

However, packing for Switzerland can be tricky. You have to prepare for the different temperatures and terrains that it offers. That’s why Alpenwild is here to help in determining what to bring as well as how to pack lightly for your travel.

Bring the right type of clothes and shoes

Clothes depend on the dates you will be travelling to Switzerland. The weather changes rapidly, though. Make sure to pack clothing items that you can layer. Bring at least two pairs of pants, as it can get cold on the trains and in the mountains.

Shirts and sweaters or jackets are also a must-bring to keep you warm during colder days. If you are planning on hiking in the Alps, then bring your hiking clothes. When it comes to shoes, it all depends on your preference: if you want a less bulky type of footwear, then bring your running shoes.

However, if you want to be covered up and protected, then bring your favourite pair of hiking boots.

Pack some medicines and personal items

This tip applies to travelling anywhere in the world. Your body can get exhausted with all the travelling. Make sure to bring some over-the-counter medicines, such as Ibuprofen for body and muscle pains, Paracetamol for mild fever, and Loperamide, Probiotics, and Antacids for tummy problems.

If you feel like you’re about to get really sick though, it would be best to visit a local hospital in Switzerland to get all the help that you need.

For toiletries and personal items, remember just to pack the essentials: all that you need are some sunscreen and a few items that you regularly use. For toiletries, don’t bring too much, as you can buy those things in convenience stores.

Bring your documents

Of course, your visit to Switzerland would not be complete without your valid documents. Before leaving your house, make sure to check if you have your passport and ID with you. It would also be beneficial to bring copies of your birth certificate, your credit cards, and other IDs.

Enjoy your trip and remember to stay safe and aware of your surroundings at all times!
