We all know how squeaky doors, windows, and floors can be extremely distracting and annoying. Luckily, there are things that you can do to prevent your door hinges in Australia from squeaking. Here are some of the easiest and most effective.
1. Use some lubricating oil.
If the door hinge still works fine, but it is quite tight and squeaky, then go ahead and add a few drops of lubricating oil to make it a little looser. Make sure to target the hinge pin and drop the oil in there to fully lubricate the material, leaving it perfect and working once again.
For hinges that are a little more on the ruined side though, you might want to remove the hinge and drop some oil in there to really coat it with oil altogether.
2. Try using paraffin wax.
We are all aware that candles comprise paraffin wax. One can easily find them in craft stores and is usually odourless and white. Alternatively, beeswax can also be suitable for this method.
Take the paraffin wax and put it in the microwave. Once it’s all dissolved, take your hinge pins and put it in the wax. Let it cool off for a couple of seconds and then put the pins back into the hinges. Test the door a couple of times to make sure there is no more squeaking.
3. Make use of steel wools.
Door hinges can sometimes be full of dirt and residue. This might make them prone to squeaking, which is why it is important to clean it every once in a while.
Grab steel wool and use it to clean your door hinges. Remove the hinge pins and properly scrub them until they are completely clean. If the dirt and gunk won’t come out, use a household cleaner along with the steel wool to clean the pins. Put them back on the door hinges once done.
If all else fails, you can always buy new and high-quality door hinges. Shop around for the best ones and never hear your door squeak again!
